Looking to spice things up in your relationship?
There’s an app for that.
In present times, people are busy. Too busy, apparently, to pay attention to the really important things, like having sex and/or being romantic. Too busy to remember to show affection to those they care about if they aren’t receiving some sort of reminder. (If you think this isn’t true, ask yourself how many friends’ birthdays you would remember on an annual basis without the help of Facebook.) This is especially true in long-term relationships – or at least that’s what I’m told. Once the honeymoon period ends, couples sometimes find themselves settling into a routine that, over time, becomes less and less romantic.
If you’re busy and looking to spice things up with your significant other, you and your relationship could potentially benefit from a new app for couples called Kahnoodle. According to a video promoting the new app, Kahnoodle is designed to “make it easier for busy couples to do more of the fun and thoughtful things that brought them together in the first place.”
Basically, Kahnoodle seeks to make certain aspects of your relationship into a game. You can accumulate points, rewards (in the form of “Koupons”), and “kudos” for kind, romantic things you’ve done for (and to) your significant other. You and your partner can rank the different types of affection-showing measures you enjoy the most, as well.
I downloaded Kahnoodle to my phone and enabled notifications, despite my “forever alone” marital status. I wanted to imagine what it would be like to have an app reminding me that I should be doing nice things for my make-believe girlfriend.
I haven’t conned any women into pretending to be with me so we can try the app, but I like one random feature: every once in a while, Kahnoodle will give you a relationship tip. I like to store these for a time when it may be appropriate to use them. They’re not only potentially helpful, but also surprising in their variety. When you get a Kahnoodle relationship tip notification, you never know what you’re going to get. Here are a few examples:
- “Get naked and jump in the shower together – like you used to do in the old days.
- “Go through your premium channels and set the DVR to record movies and shows that you know your partner will enjoy. It’ll be a nice surprise when there’s nothing to watch on Sunday.”
- “Tell your partner three things that you appreciate them doing for you lately.”
- “When your partner is doing something you like (down there), let them know. A pleasurable moan is the same thing as verbal praise, just so ya know.”
- “Laugh at your partner’s jokes – even if they’re not funny.”
And so on.
If nothing else, browsing this app will give you something to do while your friends have their heads buried in their phone, cruising Tinder and checking for visitors and matches on OKCupid.
