Burberry invented the Trench, and continues to offer the coat in a dizzying array of lengths and fabrics, sending brightly colored, reflective pink and blue down their 2013 Fall runways.  We still prefer their khaki colored, Mid Length Technical Cotton Trench in all its classic glory.

Ted Baker’s khaki Debonair Mac hits all the right notes and adds a fanciful, colorful lining of photos of London landmarks.

Paul Smith’s London Collection Trench coat adds dark appeal in an unexpected navy blue twill.

For an American twist on the tradition, Brooks Brothers’ houndstooth wool Trench with horn buttons will last a lifetime.

Aquascutum, it’s worth noting, also lays claim to the title of inventor of the Trench Coat, having introduced a similar style at the same time as Burberry, and continues to tweak the look to this day.  Their thoroughly modern Suede and Leather Trench adds rock-star appeal to the look.
